Overview
The theme of this proposal is: The development and evaluation of the curated Illinois classroom. This proposal builds on crowd-sourced transcription with the recent (2015) development of “ClassTranscribe” by Ren, Angrave and Hasegawa-Johnson (http://www.github.com/cs-education/classTranscribe). ClassTranscribe is an open-source, web-based platform that leverages crowdsourcing to address the problem of accurate, reliable and fast transcriptions of college lectures, educational and research media. Completed transcriptions provide search functionality that augments existing lecture recordings and enable enhanced educational features including closed captioning. ClassTranscribe has been successfully prototyped and used inside a single large-enrollment computer science course.
